Nicholson Clinic Happy Feet Set to Walk from Obesity
The Nicholson Clinic for Weight Loss Surgery’s founder discusses the upcoming event.
Plano, TX, Sept 30, 2015 – The Nicholson Clinic for Weight Loss Surgery is inviting area residents to help them take a “Walk from Obesity” Oct. 10. Staff members from the center have teamed up to form the Nicholson Clinic Happy Feet and they’re hoping others will join them in this important event that raises money and awareness at the same time.
“Obesity is a health-related problem that affects an estimated third of America’s population, young and old alike,” says Dr. Nick Nicholson, founder and lead surgeon at the North Texas-based Nicholson Clinic, one of the top weight loss surgery centers in the country. “This ASMBS Foundation-sponsored event is a grassroots, local effort designed to raise money for research and education while garnering awareness for the problem and its potentially fatal side effects.”
To show its support, the Nicholson Clinic Happy Feet will take part in the Oct. 10 Walk from Obesity at Dallas’ Hillcrest High School track. The team is currently raising money for the cause while recruiting more members to go the distance on the track.
“We want all our patients, employees, friends and family to support this cause and join us for the walk,” says Dr. Nicholson. ”This event is an excellent way to take a stand against obesity while also having a good time.”
The SMBS Foundation’s annual walk is the only national walkathon that’s designed to put the disease of obesity in the spotlight. Money raised during the event helps fund the association’s educational outreach efforts and also research designed to battle obesity and its associated diseases.
